The way I see it, trap should be considered just like any other genre. I often feel like this generalization is similar to the people that say metal music is bad in general because its just senseless screaming without talent for singing. Trap in general should not be considered bad thing and it just comes from the notion that electronic music is overall inferior to normal instrumentation because it takes little to no effort ( (very untrue, boyinaband does a really good analysis of the matter:) ).

Personal biased feelios coming from someone who loved everything about Mic Drop Remix TLDR: Perhaps MIC DROP is getting mixed reception because we've all grown too used to the original one. It took me about 5 listens to come to this conclusion, but I am loving this track. Yoongie just seems more in his element with this version and I am here for every moment of it. And now that I mention it, I think the remix does A LOT for Yoongie. I still think Hobi slays the song more in the beginning because he just sounds in his element. Just added some questionable lyrics (like wtf? Applesauce?). And to be quite honest, he really didn't add much to the song. His rap part in the beginning is okay, not terrible, but I can manage. However, if I do have one small critique, then it would be Desiigner. I love both equally because they both possess a unique sound which is hard to choose from.

I always turn the base slightly up when listening to music.īut I digress, I still love the track. Steve Aoki really added more of a trap sound with a hella (did you see what I did there?) high bass, which I personally love when it comes to songs. I appreciate both sounds for what they are and have no preference to be quite honest. It is a remix of a song so we have to remember that it does not necessarily have to add to the original. If you are not a fan of trap or hard hitting bass music, then you probably will not like this song, even if you love BTS. This song all comes down to the listener's preference. A simple 'THE REMIX WILL NEVER BE AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL! THE ORIGINAL WAS HYPE!' or 'THIS REMIX IS LIT! I'VE BEEN SLAYN!' won't do. If there's something you didn't like about the remix, or if you disagree with a certain criticism, please try to be specific.

These points were brought up to discuss the MV version remix, however, you're free to add thoughts about the Desiigner feature version to your reply as well. Taking into consideration the above criticism and any other critique you may have found, what strengths do you think the remix possessed or where do you think the remix did well?

Taking into consideration that two U.S.based artists contributed to the track (and thus will arguably make the track more Americanized by nature), do you agree with the notion that the remix was solely made as a 'muggle bait'? Do you agree?ĭo you think the EDM influences added as a result of Steve Aoki's contributions weren't a smart choice for MIC Drop? Do you agree with the notion that EDM stripped MIC Drop of the positive qualities it originally brought to the table?Ī commonly observed notion is that the remix was made to cater to the general U.S.audience, and thus it cannot be expected to be embraced by normal army, as well as lacked the quality bts usually delivers. The Steve Aoki remix didn't add more to the original. Taking in mind the places bts spent time in when in the U.S.(condition included to consider slangs or natural patterns of speech) do you agree with the brought up criticism? Do you have more criticism to add?

Issues pointed out include being cringe, unnatural slang, childish lyrics, lack of oomph and effect in the original. The English verses found a polarizing reception. Regardless I have a few points here that I want people to ponder about and would like your thoughts on.Īpparently there's a notion that trap = bad and the genre of beat in the remix was too Americanized, and thus, worse.

The original thread was full of either uncontained hype or sad disappointment that I dont think reached people well so I think it was harder for people to find each other's opinions and properly discuss.
